Rice & Beans

Another black and white post. I just love it. 🙂

Forget the barbies. Forget the trains. Forget the princesses and the dressing up.

All these two really need are rice and beans.

A parenting lesson I have learned. Less IS more.

Honestly, they have played with this non-stop since I opened the lids and said, “have at it.”

Why did I not do this sooner?

My fear of messes. I have let it go. It’s just rice. It’s just beans.

Their little imaginations are soaring. They are serving foods of all sorts, building towers, pools for their dolls and digging for treasures.

Here are some other things we’ve been doing lately.

Charlotte has been more interested in coloring and doing “big girl” activities lately. How cute is she holding her little crayon?

“Was sat?” (What’s that?)

Reading is one of her favorite things to do. It is a routine. We start our day with it. We read together every morning while I drink my coffee. Starting with “We’re going on a Bear Hunt.”

Cameron is showing a huge and I mean HUGE (and very new) interest in letters. She knows the sounds, upper case and lower, and loves to trace them and draw them herself. She is starting to sound out simple words with help. I can’t wait to see what this year brings us. I hope that all of our reading guides them into being book lovers.

Cameron loves to bake. Brownies are her fave. She’s a great help. She’s learning how to crack eggs, stir and is perfecting the taste testing.

Dancing is a big deal for our almost 4 year old girl.

She takes it very seriously. She is starting ballet lessons next week. She is SO excited.

(And so am I.)

This is Charlotte’s version of ballet.

And jumping.

That’s serious air for a not even two year old, right?

TV break. Holding hands. Gosh I love these kids. More than I ever imagined. Every day is a new adventure.

Starting a photography business has been rough. I have found less and less time for taking my kids out and having little shoots with them. Instead, I’m always looking for a chance to just capture them as them. Cameron & Charlotte.

To challenge myself, and create something that I like better than just a plain photo, I have been experimenting with black & white. I love it. So much. And I haven’t ever really known how to use it. And like all art, there’s no right way. These are just snaps from our summer. Part of our summer. In black & white.

Visiting Mor at the hospital.

Barbie & ballet obsessed. Both of them.

First time playing a computer game.

Exploring about sea animals at the library.

Walking on the balance beam at a gymnastics party!

Swinging on a rope!

No nap. Zoned out. Snuggled with Boy.

Food for boy.

TCBY date.

Missed Daddy. Catching up on snuggles.

Messy hair. Summer.

“Look at my big shadow Mom!”

What? My kids are spoiled??

Look at those eyes.

You would spoil her too.

Can’t believe this little love is going to be 2 next month.
