11 months old!

My little girl is 11 months today. Unbelievable.

The difference in Cameron at 10 months and 11 months is incredible. She has transformed from a little baby to a little human being. It was hard for me to really understand the concept of how children her age learn and how fast they learn. I’ve seen kids her age before and the things they can do but obviously never experienced the development first hand. For Cameron, this month she began to really “understand” what we’re saying. She is putting together actions and objects with words. She is trying so very very hard to verbalize everything she sees. She is anticipating what comes next. I never imagined watching a child develop would be so amazing. I feel so blessed to be able to see this. I am so thankful that God gave us this special little girl.

This has been a great month for her physical development as well. She is so close to walking, or running in her case. She is letting go and taking just a few steps but hasn’t figured out that she can keep going yet. Everyone tells me that once she starts she’s going to be into everything, but I am just so excited about this milestone. I am looking forward to the day she walks across the room for the first time. I know she’s going to be so proud of herself. I’m so proud of her. She’s such a good kid.

I put her on the scale and she now weighs 19.5 lbs. Her 5th tooth just broke through today. She’s got a bit more hair now too.

Her diet has completely changed. She now detests the idea of being fed baby food. She wants what we’re having. She’s pretty adventurous with tasting things and seems to like a lot… as long as it’s what big girls eat. She’s not a baby anymore. Her current favorites? sweet potato, cheese, noodles with marinara and cheese, yogurt, apples and bananas (we discovered tonight!). After she turns one we get to start the transition to sippy cups exclusively. I’ve been talking to people about going cold turkey or just weaning her off gradually. Maybe we’ll start the transition this month and see how she does. I’m very much looking forward to not having to wash bottles anymore..or for a while at least. πŸ™‚

She’s still a huge fan of the cat and dogs. The new puppy, Chloe, is absolutely obsessed and in love with Cameron. She thinks it’s her job to be either next to her or have her eyes on her at all times (guess that’s the Border Collie way…). When we go on walks she stays right next to the stroller and gets very upset if she gets even 3 feet away from her. It hasn’t been easy for me to transition into having another dog in the house because I’m still mourning Max and Sam, but if there was ever a dog that was a perfect fit for us.. she’s it. She’s such a good dog. I haven’t put new pics of her up lately so here ya go. πŸ™‚

By the way, I did not pose them like this. This is literally how Chloe is anytime Cameron is around. Β She’s a protector. I’m so glad.

And because I can’t leave out the big girl on her 11 month birthday…..

Here’s a bunch of recent pictures. In case you’re wondering, I was trying very hard to find the perfect picture for her birthday party invitation. That’s why there are so many. We really don’t romp around in the grass to often yet but I know that day will come.

“Fisherman’s Face”

Standing up all by her big girl self!

Happy Halloween!

Cameron’s First Halloween

Our Lil’ Lobster.

Though she’s not old enough for trick or treating yet, Cameron still had a great time dressing up in a costume. I think we had even more fun than she did. πŸ™‚ We decided that for this first year, we would make a visit to our families instead of the whole door to door thing. I wasn’t sure that she would stand to wear her costume for very long but she proved me wrong. She had a funny expression on her face the whole time she was wearing it but she didn’t fight it at all.

The story behind the lobster costume:

There are thousands, and yes I mean thousands, of baby costumes out there! I was very much at a loss when trying to find a cute one for Cameron and her first Halloween. Originally, I wanted for her to be a black cat since we have one and she loves her so much but I couldn’t find one that was cute. I think that will be next year. We got to thinking and around that same time Cameron was in a “pinching” phase. She does it mostly to Brian but also to me when she’s sleepy. She pinches necks, chins, arms, cheeks.. anything she can get her little fingers on as a comfort to her. She doesn’t do it to be mean but it is funny to see Brian’s neck after she gets to him. Anyway, all this pinching and my mom had the idea to make her a crab or a lobster. Well, I ran across this cute lobster costume and couldn’t resist.

Cam and her kitty. This girl seriously loves cats. Our cat, Sakura (not pictured), is such a great cat. She’s so tolerant of Cameron. Cameron gets overly excited to see her and Sakura doesn’t mind it at all. I am so thankful that she’s not a mean kitty so our little sweetheart can love on her all she wants.

Love that little face. <3

A break from the head piece. Happy girl.

Lobster anyone??

Another one of my mom’s ideas. We got her pot and a wooden spoon and this little ham.. I mean lobster, was all about posing for that camera.

Daddy and his mini.

She’s a mommy’s girl too though.

Aunt Emily making her laugh!

Content to be held by Grandpa.

Showing Gammie that she’s a big girl now… ready to walk soon!

Even little lobsters need their rest though.

And a good bottle too.

Cameron and Mor (her great-grandmother)

She’s got the magic touch. This is one tired lobster.

We had a great time seeing everyone for Cameron’s first Halloween. I can hardly believe that we’ll be celebrating her first birthday soon!

Thanks for reading!! <3

Pumpkin Patch

We took Cameron to a local pumpkin patch last week. Β We had a lot of fun. It was a gorgeous evening and there were lots of pumpkins. She didn’t seem to notice the big pumpkins but liked the little ones. I’m sure next year will be a different story. She did like touching the hay and taking in the whole experience. Believe it or not, the picture above is the first family picture we’ve taken since Cameron was 10 days old. We’ve taken thousands of pictures of her but completely neglected family pictures.

Right now, Cameron loves cats. She loves to point them out on everything, books, shirts, pictures etc. I told her she had a kitty on her shirt when I dressed her and she decided to point at it repeatedly and say “Hi Cat” that evening while she was wearing it.

It was so bright outside. It made it difficult to get her to look at us for pictures. Next year, we’ll go at a different time for sure. πŸ™‚

There was another little girl at the pumpkin patch with her family. She seemed to be around 6 months older than Cameron. Cameron was watching her as she walked and talked in this picture.

This girl loves her Daddy.

Busy girl. I love this one.

We took this one in front of Brian’s mom’s school. They had a cute little pumpkin and scarecrow display.
