Well it appears that the first born of Brian and Becca Edge is indeed their guinea pig. Poor sweet Cameron Kate had food poisoning, yes that’s right food poisoning, at the tender age of 4 months old. Her genius parents decided to feed her a small amount of formula (the powdered kind) and failed to realize that the cans are no good after being opened for 1 month. Needless to say, she spent a good amount of Wednesday night vomiting and most of Thursday being fed pedialyte to rehydrate. Thank goodness she’s just fine now and has two parents who feel awful for causing their baby such pain. The good news is her parents wont be so stupid as to make the same mistake twice so as far as being fed expired formula goes, Cameron and her future brothers and sisters are probably safe.
And just because we can’t resist sharing, here are some new pics of our poor little one. 🙂
Cameron is 4 months old now and we can’t believe it. She is growing stronger and sweeter every day. She’s sleeping through the night now which makes for a very happy mommy and daddy. She is starting to grow more blond hair and looking cute. Brian and Cameron still look so much alike. It’s precious.
We took her to the doctor on Wednesday for her check up and vaccinations. She officially weighs 12 lbs 3 oz and is 24 1/2 inches long. That’s 25th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. The doctor says she’s very healthy looking. She’s met all of her developmental milestones except one: rolling over. He said not to worry about it though because it’s not abnormal that she’s not doing this yet.
It’s becoming quite obvious that she’s getting frustrated with the fact that she can’t sit up or move around yet. She loves to pull up and stand up like a big girl. She has the cutest expression when she does this. She grabs at anything put in front of her now and everything goes to the mouth. She loves to be read to and look at the colorful pages of books. Every day she gets better ant tummy time.
She has become increasingly more interested in the dogs and watches them from across the room. The dogs don’t really notice her still. Occasionally they will come sniff her then walk off. Bayley loves her toys and thinks when we play with Cameron that really we’re wanting to play with her. She gets that border collie intense stare as if any second we’re going to toss one of Cameron’s toys for her to fetch. Sam only cares about Cameron’s dirty clothes. He’s so gross, we find him with so many of her soiled outfits. Max cares about where we leave the boppy pillow. You can be sure that if it’s left in a reachable place Max will curl up in it.
Cameron has become so vocal. She squeals and laughs all the time and at the most random things. That always tickles us. She is so much fun to be around and is happy most of the time. She still loves to go places and take in the new scenery.
Here are some pictures of Cameron at 4 months old.
At the doctor.. before the shots.
Getting to be so strong!
I like cups!
Silly willy laughing a who knows what.
Focused on those cups!
This has been a busy busy week! On Thursday we moved most of our things from our house to a 1 bedroom apartment. We’ll be in the apartment for about 3-4 months until our new house is ready to move into. Since the apartment is on the 3rd floor, we had movers move our things. There’s no way that we could have done it ourselves.
Cameron did great and has been adjusting fine. We were worried that it might throw her out of her routine for a few days until she got settled but she’s slept through the night every night we’ve been here and seems to have no idea that we’re in a different place. She slept in her swing the first few nights until we were able to have the time to take her crib apart and move it over. It wouldn’t fit through the door and the movers were not allowed to assemble/disassemble it for liability purposes. My dad and Brian got it taken care of so now she’s got everything she needs.
Construction on the new house has finally started. The slab will probably be poured sometime this next week. I’m glad our apartment is so close so that we can go check on its progress often.
Here’s a picture of the new house’s location. Just a foundation now but will be our new home in July/August!
View from the front.
We’ll be posting pictures of the progress as it moves along. We want to include pictures of Cameron so we can show her one day and so we can watch how she’s grown during this process. We’re so thankful for everything in our lives and that God has blessed us in so many ways. Everything we have is because of Him.
We got a new toy from Cameron’s cousin, Jackson, recently. He is almost 3 years old now and decided he didn’t need his exersaucer anymore. Cameron is getting to the point now where she’s big enough to play in it. It plays fun little songs for her and has lots to look at. I know this will be very fun for her as she grows. Thank you, Jackson!
Getting so big!
We picked a sun hat up for the little one and some new warm weather outfits. It was such a gorgeous weekend that we decided to go outside for a few.. she posed for us inside first though. It wont be long and we’ll stop having to have the silly bumbo in all of her pictures!
She likes her new hat!
Big brother checking out what all the fuss is about.
I was driving home from work Saturday morning and there was the most beautiful vibrant full double rainbow I had ever seen. It was such a beautiful morning, bright clear sun from the east and a dark thunderstorm to the west. The colors of the Spring landscape were spectacular. I wish I had my camera on the drive home. It was one of those mornings that put me in a good mood for the week. It started to rain when I pulled into my driveway so I grabbed the camera and took this picture of our house. It was much more beautiful in person by the way. 🙂
